Flying New Zealand (RNZAC) has introduced a new online application procedure for the FAI Sporting Licence.
New FAI Badge Claim Form
A new simplified 2-page FAI badge claim form has replaced the old 5-page form.

New Sporting Code effective 1 October
The FAI Sporting Code Section 3 - Gliding has been amended with effect 1 October 2009. Photographic evidence and direct observation from the ground for position evidence is no longer acceptable. There are other subtle changes too. The associated Annex C, Official Observer and Pilot Guide, has also been amended. Both documents may be downloaded from http://www.fai.org/gliding/sporting_code

By logging your airspace usage (both positive and negative experiences) Gliding New Zealand will be able to get a better understanding of airspace usage throughout New Zealand.

We had a bit of luck yesterday… 415km task with the last turn point in a completely dead basin of air. After battling low level with the paragliders for about an hour we managed to scrape about 150m height and glide out the valley (plenty of paddocks to land in on the way)
