The Matamata Soaring Centre will be running a Cross Country Course again this year. It is tailored to pilots that have done at least their 5 hours and hopefully their Silver Badge. These courses are run to not only help the student pilots but to help the clubs give them the instruction required to get them flying cross country confidently and safely.

Older members of Gliding New Zealand, those active in the early 60’s, will well remember John. He was a leading force in the exploration of the Kaimai wave and led a team of Ross Reid, Tony Fowke, Noel Johnson, John Roake and others in opening up the area to high altitude soaring.
