New Sporting Code effective 1 October
The FAI Sporting Code Section 3 - Gliding has been amended with effect 1 October 2009. Photographic evidence and direct observation from the ground for position evidence is no longer acceptable. There are other subtle changes too. The associated Annex C, Official Observer and Pilot Guide, has also been amended. Both documents may be downloaded from http://www.fai.org/gliding/sporting_code
Airspace Usage Tracker now online
By logging your airspace usage (both positive and negative experiences) Gliding New Zealand will be able to get a better understanding of airspace usage throughout New Zealand.

I am very sorry to report the sad news that Ray Lynskey died early Wednesday morning 19 August 2009, after a battle with cancer.

We had a bit of luck yesterday
415km task with the last turn point in a completely dead basin of air. After battling low level with the paragliders for about an hour we managed to scrape about 150m height and glide out the valley (plenty of paddocks to land in on the way)
